World Class Fishing TROPHY Fishing AT Gods Lake Haven - Manitoba, Canada

The Lodge
The setting of Gods Lake Haven is unique, situated at a former Hudson’s Bay Company trading post, on a sheltered, scenic bay on Gods Lake. The Archives of Manitoba have records of the Hudson Bay Company’s journal posts, correspondence books and accounting records dating from 1825 which give a glimpse of the day to day lives of those who settled almost 200 years ago. History is evident in various parts of the lodge where hand hewed beams span the ceiling and original log cabins are scattered about.
It is easy to imagine what the first explorers of North Americans saw when they arrived in the land of Cree Indians who used birch bark canoes filled with fur to trade for the white man’s goods. Beaver pelts were the currency of the day and were traded from muskets, knives, axes, cooking pots and the famous Hudson Bay Company blankets. Gods Lake Haven brings you back in time and allows our guests the thrill of exploring this virgin wilderness.
AMBIENCE and ACCOMMODATIONS
Gods Lake Haven, an historic lodge, offers a rustic ambience, where we cater to small, intimate groups, offering our guests new sleeping accommodations, comfortable 2-person clean rooms, crisp sheets and private bathrooms. Wireless internet (Wifi) for your laptop and a satellite phone will keep you in touch with work and home.
Great care is taken to preserve the original buildings and we are extending that rustic ambience to other parts of the lodge to provide an authentic experience for our guests. Emphasis is placed on the gathering around the fire each night for cold drinks and storytelling, as experienced in African hunting camps, that special time of the day when the sun finally sets and the only sound you will hear is the haunting cry of the loon. A sumptuous dinner in front of the fireplace, brings everyone together at the end of the day to savour, fresh and creative homemade cooking. The covered veranda provides a wonderful spot to watch the sunset over the lake and perhaps enjoy an after dinner Cuban cigar.
Its been a great day of Canadian fishing, however, the sun is getting lower in the western sky and it’s time to head in. Your guide still fully navigates your boat between islands, around sunken reefs and rocks giving you a spectacular view of this beautiful wilderness. As you approach the fishing lodge, you can’t help but think of all the fish you caught and how you can’t wait to tell the story of the big one that didn’t get away. You arrive back at the fishing lodge around 5:00 p.m. The minute you arrive at the dock, the story telling starts. It’s a great time of day you can hang around the dock, and check out the other fisherman’s catch compare notes on what lures are producing the best. Then whenever you like, you can head up to your cabin for a hot shower or maybe just lounge around till dinner.
